CAP Culmination Activities
In addition to the assessment tools provided by CAP, teachers have developed assignments that provide students with opportunities to present and celebrate their civic actions. Teachers’ Culmination Activities CAP Reports in essay format CAP Presentations Many teachers assigned students to develop multi-media presentations about their CAP experiences. Students used posters, PowerPoint, video and other media to create presentations that were shared with parents, other classes, and community members (including policy-makers). Students used the CAP Planner to outline their presentations. These presentations can then be entered into the CAP. Letters to Officials Many teachers assigned students to write a well-constructed letter to an appropriate policy-maker about their issue. Teachers developed criteria for the letters that could be assessed for specific learning such as persuasive writing, proposing solutions, knowledge about policy-making, etc. Los Angeles Showcase On June 8, 2011 over 80 CAP students attended the event, along with L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa
