Anyone on this site We are limiting the amount of trash left on Terra Linda High School's campus by implementing the use of recycling a composting bins. We chose this issue because all of the trash at Terra Linda High School is not currently recycled and we are concerned for the wellbeing of the surrounding environment. We would like to preserve the natural beauty found throughout Terra Linda. By the time we are finished, we hope to have recycling and composting bins placed at the end of every hall way. Our next step will be to give students at Terra Linda High School incentive to use our recycling and composting bins by rewarding them for keeping the campus clean. Our CAP is concerning because we are trying to conserve our resources so that future generations and live as freely as we do today. If we do not protect the environment, and live sustainably then when our children go to Terra Linda High School it will still look very beautiful, and be safe because we did not contaminate it with our trash. |

Anyone on this site Jack,
I could not agree more. The parking situation is out of hand at our school. I wish the district was just as worried with our parking as they were with theirs. There would be plenty of parking if they did not take away the senior parking from the staff lot.

Anyone on this site Hey Sara!
I strongly agree with you. I must say I grew up heavier than the kids in my grade, and most of the kids in my family that were closer to me in age. Childhood obesity wasn't as bad when I was growing up, but I must say it's hidden by the parents, and you could definitely see it through their children. Not AS much anymore because I believe First Lady Michelle Obama's 'Let's Move' initiative has really decreased the childhood obesity. She has gotten working out and eating right to be fun for children, and the way she goes about it is something children definitely want to follow after. And, due to the fact that she leads by example and not just talking about 'Let's Move!' but, actually moving, it's inspiring and motivating! |

Anyone on this site Obesity plays a role here in our community, its just not as obvious. People are much more hidden about the issue and rather not talk about it at all. If people did talk about more, there would be more prevention methods, so its smart of Tiara to clearly address the issue right away. Also, possibly giving more information and facts about the issue of obesity in her community. If you keep on your topic you can truly make a difference in your community. |

Anyone on this site Our school's lunches are also not very healthy, however, obesity is not a very big issue in our community. One solution to your problem could be to talk to the school principal and see if he can do something to modify the school lunches and make them more healthy. You could explain to him or her about the problem of obesity and she what their opinion is. Here are some tips to making school lunches healthier. http://www.freakonomics.com/2013/02/28/how-to-make-school-lunches-healthier/ |

Anyone on this site I like how you are trying to modify this policy of having of campus lunch. You should talk to the teachers and principle about this policy though. Many students may agree with you but then again what about the lowerclassmen students? They will be bummed out to have to stay in campus. Passing out a survey to students can help you out in getting an answer of wether all students should have the opportunity to eat off campus as long as they have transportation. In my community in Marin County we have off campus for everyone and it seems to work well. Everyone gets along well and we all enjoy our food! I believe you can make this work for everyone!

Anyone on this site We choose the issue of child abuse because we feel like its a very serious issue that has huge consequences later on in a child's life. They could grow up to continue the abuse sexual or physical. Statistics show they are more likely to use drugs/alcohol, have mental illness, and troubles function as successful adults. Our goal is to spread the word in this community because people living in an affluent community like Marin may think this isn't an issue or want to ignore it. Our next steps are reaching out to individuals and groups in our community that are already working on the issue and see what can do help their efforts and start our own projects. Honestly every person in Marin should care because the abuse could be happening their child, grandchild, cousin, niece/nephew, neighbor, or best friend. Also, the abuse leaves mental and emotion scares on these children who grow up to be adults who live in this community and could negatively impact it with reckless behavior due to trauma from the abuse.

Anyone on this site Hey K.J., I think that what your CAP is about speaks volumes for our generation! i think what you should do next is interview a couple who was going to get married, then had their rights removed from them before the ceremony. At least in California where I'm from, this would be easy as we had those rights for barely one month. Anyway, keep up the great work!

Anyone on this site Hey Mario, Dirty bathrooms are a huge problem here at TLHS, I would want to suggest that more students should consider the side effects of their actions and to try to make everyone else's jobs, like the janitors, easier.
